About Us

Troop 179 was first chartered in 1993.  We are a member of the Ventura County Council #057, 509 E. Daily Drive in Camarillo.  Our sponsoring organization is St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, located at 3290 Loma Vista Road in Ventura, CA, 93003.

Troop 179 has an average of 25 Scouts on the roster at any given time.  They come from several local Packs and schools, and bring a wide range of ages and experience to the Troop.   We are quite active, with one major trip a month.  We have had overnight campouts at the local Las Padres National Forest, Cleavland National Forest, summer camps all around Southern California. Supporting both our local Smmer camp, Camp 3-Falls, every 2-4 years, out of Council Camps, the rest of the time. We have attended Fiesta Is., Mataguay Scout Ranch, Emerald Bay, Etc,...

We will be attending Philmont Scout Ranch, NM, in the coming years.  We annually attend Camporee.

The Troop believes in the Patrol Method, and strives to be a boy-led program.  Developing youth leadership is a priority.  The aims of Scouting…character development, citizenship, and mental and physical fitness, guide us through our program planning and service projects.

We are proud of the program we have developed, and invite you to attend one of our Troop meetings, usually held the first and third Tuesday of each month in Kahler Hall at St. Paul’s at 7 pm.
